About Lily Zipes – Acrylic Painting Teacher
Hi there, my name is Lily Zipes! I have been making art for as long as I can remember, but truly got inspired when my older sister brought home her first art project from high school. I was in awe and wanted to be just like her. Throughout my high school years, I took as many art classes as my transcript would allow and really started to get into portraiture. I studied fine arts in college at the University of Cincinnati and was still very much into portraitures until I kept getting stumped with the question from my professors, “so what does this mean to you?” I understood that I had to dive deeper in my themes and ended up with a focus in environmental and sustainable art for the last half of college. I have always deeply cared about the environment and the ways in which humans have affected it. I began making my own natural pigments and repurposing materials for my projects whenever I could.
Art has always been a therapeutic escape for me and has helped me to creative problem solve in other aspects of life. Being able to have an ample amount of creative freedom is one of the many things I have enjoyed deeply about art and of course getting messy!!
