Paint and Sip in Fort Lauderdale: What to Expect at Your First Event

If you have been searching for a fun night out in Fort Lauderdale that feels more memorable than the usual dinner or drinks, a paint and sip event may be exactly what you need. It combines a guided painting class with the relaxed energy of a social night out, and you do not need any art experience to join.

At Wine & Canvas Fort Lauderdale, our local artists guide the group step by step from a blank canvas to a finished painting. You can come with friends, plan a date night, celebrate something special, or attend on your own and meet new people. The goal is not to paint perfectly. It is to relax, try something creative, and leave with artwork and a story.

What Is a Paint and Sip Event?

A paint and sip is a social painting experience led by an instructor. Everyone works on the same featured design, but each finished canvas develops its own personality. The artist breaks the painting into manageable steps, demonstrates techniques, and helps guests throughout the event.

Wine & Canvas events take place at local partner venues throughout the Greater Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas. Depending on the event, you may find us at a brewery, restaurant, bar, community space, or private venue. Food and beverages are typically available separately through the host venue, so you can order what you enjoy while supporting a local business.

Do I Need Painting Experience?

Not at all. Most guests are beginners, and many arrive convinced that they “cannot paint.” That is one reason the guided format works so well. Instead of facing a blank canvas alone, you follow a local artist who demonstrates one section at a time.

You will learn simple techniques such as blending colors, building a background, creating texture, and adding details. There is also room to make the painting your own. Change a color, add an extra palm tree, or give the design a little more sparkle. Your canvas does not have to look identical to the instructor’s.

What Is Included?

Your Wine & Canvas registration includes the art supplies and instruction needed to complete the featured painting. We provide the canvas, acrylic paint, brushes, easel, apron, and step-by-step guidance. At the end of the event, your artwork goes home with you.

Food and drinks are not generally included in the ticket price. Our venue partners offer their own menus, and event listings include the specific venue details you need before arriving.

What Should I Wear?

Wear something comfortable that lets you move your arms easily. Aprons are provided, but acrylic paint can be stubborn once it dries, so it is smart to avoid an outfit you would be heartbroken to stain. Casual date-night clothes, jeans and a cute top, or relaxed group-night attire all work well.

When Should I Arrive?

Arriving early gives you time to check in, choose a seat with your group, and order food or beverages before painting begins. Review the event listing for venue-specific guidance, parking information, age restrictions, and start time. Buying tickets in advance is recommended because seating is limited and supplies are prepared for registered guests.
