Melissa Kady is an artist and educator with a BFA in Painting and Art History from Ohio University, enriched by additional art studies in Italy and Spain that helped shape her creative perspective. She has taught art to students of all ages, specializing in technical drawing, painting, and realism while encouraging personal expression and creative confidence. In her own practice, Melissa is drawn to abstract work, especially her recursion painting series created for her thesis exhibition—an evolving body of paintings exploring growth, transformation, and organic movement. Her artistic accomplishments include a 500 sq. ft. mural for Holiday Inn Express and her contributions to the “Scale” astronomy project, which featured a record-breaking charcoal drawing of the Milky Way galaxy.
Melissa’s experience also extends into museum and gallery work, including exhibition preparation, art handling, and curatorial support. At the Kennedy Museum of Art, she assisted with shows such as James Karales’s civil rights photography and the museum’s permanent Native American weave works display. Beyond her studio and teaching practice, Melissa has created numerous community art programs, school-wide art galas, and youth workshops that bring people together through creativity. Outside of her art career, she enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking for friends and family, and she loves going to concerts where she finds inspiration in music and collective experiences. Today, she continues to teach, create, and host art experiences that invite people of all ages to explore, connect, and enjoy the process of making art.
